The 2015 Nepal Earthquake
On April 25, 2015, a powerful earthquake struck Nepal and triggered a massive avalanche above Langtang Village. Within moments, huge amounts of snow, rocks, and ice buried much of the village.
The disaster destroyed homes, lodges, and infrastructure while causing the loss of hundreds of local residents and trekkers. It became one of the deadliest tragedies in Nepal’s trekking history.

Despite the tragedy, the people of Langtang slowly rebuilt their community with courage and determination. New homes and tea houses were constructed near the original settlement, and trekking routes were restored over time.
