Trip overview

Throng peak climbing is in the Annapurna mountain region just above the Thorung La pass. This peak is above 6000m and considered one of the difficult and risky peaks for climbing in Nepal. Along with sound physical fitness basic prior experience of high snowy peak climbing is necessary to climb Thorung peak. If you plan to go High Mountain expedition in future this peak is suitable for you which will provide all the necessary experiences.

Thorung peak climbing and Annapurna circuit trekking can combine perfectly so during this peak climbing journey you will fell natural and cultural bliss all the time. You will always walk on the shadows of beautiful mountains, you will go through the beautiful rhododendron forest, you will crosses Pristine Rivers, you will see naturally decorated landscapes and you will encounter with several rare and non-rare animals and birds during your journey.

Throng Peak Climbing – Difficult and risky peak to climb

Moreover, route of Thorung peak goes through the villages of Different ethnic people so, during this journey you will get chance to known the unique culture and festivals of different ethnic people such as Gurung, Magar and Buddhist. Your journey starts with 5/6 hours bus drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. From Besisahar you will reach to Thorung Phedi through beautiful places like Bahundada, Chamje, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang and Manang.

From Thorung Phedi you will reach to Thorung peak base camp and gradually you will reach to Thorung peak summit which offers superb views of Nilgiri peak, Tilicho peak, Dhaulagiri range, and Annapurna range, beautiful naturally decorated landscapes of Mustang region. After enjoying in its summit you will return via Muktinath, Jomsom route.

Trek to Everest offer adventurous and romantic Thorung peak climbing in Nepal. We designed Thorung peak climbing itinerary by including general route and minimum required days. If you want long trek in Annapurna region before or after climbing this peak we will redesign its itinerary as per you request. During Thorung Peak climbing Trek to Everest view provides short peak climbing training if needed, experienced climbing guides, good accommodation and foods, well trained cooks and luxury camp during campaigning stay.

Short Itinerary

Thorong Peak Climbing Itinerary – 15 Days

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m) Airport pickup, transfer to hotel. Trip briefing and preparation.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (820m), then to Chame (2,670m) Long drive (8–9 hrs). Scenic views of hills, rivers, and mountains.

Day 03: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,200m) – 5 hrs Walk along pine forests and Marsyangdi River. View of Annapurna II & IV.

Day 04: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m) – 6 hrs Choose upper or lower route. Visit monasteries and explore Manang village.

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Manang (3,540m) Hike to Ice Lake or Chhunker Viewpoint. Essential acclimatization.

Day 06: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050m) – 4 hrs, Gradual ascent. Watch for yaks grazing.

Day 07: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m) – 4 hrs Short but steady climb. Prepare for high-altitude stay.

Day 08: Trek from Thorong Phedi to Thorong Peak Base Camp (4,800m) – 4 hrs Leave the main trail. Set up base camp.

Day 09: Trek from Base Camp to High Camp (5,200m) – 3 hrs Steep climb on rocky terrain. Early rest for summit push.

Day 10: Summit Thorong Peak (6,144m) & return to Muktinath (3,760m) via Thorong La (5,416m) – 9–10 hrs Start around 2–3 AM. Use crampons, ropes, and ice axe if required. After summit, descend via Thorong La Pass to Muktinath.

Day 11: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m) – 5 hrs, Descend through Kali Gandaki valley.

Day 12: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (827m) – 30 mins, Scenic mountain flight. Rest in Pokhara.

Day 13: Drive/Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu – 6 hrs drive or 25 min flight.

Day 14: Buffer/Contingency Day For weather or acclimatization delays.

Day 15: Final Departure. Airport transfer for onward journey.

    Poon hill trek 🫶
I had an amazing time during my four day poon hill trek and want to thank my amazing guide Anil for being there with me!! 🫂🙏If you have thought about trekking in Nepal but feel overwhelmed by the idea of that, don’t fear! With the careful planning and execution by the trekking company you don’t have anything to worry about. Everything was organised carefully and although it is sometimes challenging it’s also made comfortable to enjoy with the help of your guide. Anil was amazing at checking in making sure I was comfortable, organising all my meals and helping with overnight stays as well as offering me friendly company and laughs throughout and his extreme patience has not gone unnoticed. Thanks so much for looking after me on this trek, I had an amazing time on the mountain and felt inspired and grounded. I leave with a special place for this area in my heart.     Langtang trek

    Amazing trek with an amazing guide
We did the langtang valley trek with this agency. It was an amazing experience. We just showed up to their office and were taken care of right away. Our guide Suraj was AMAZING. I can’t recommend him enough. He made sure that we were comfortable at all moments of the trek, and he gave us so many informations on the region and answered every questions we had. My EBC trek was an amazing experience! Everything was very well organized, and my female guide Samikshya Bajagain took great care of me throughout the journey. Even when things didn’t go exactly as planned, she handled every situation very professionally and with a positive attitude. I always felt safe and supported.     Mardi Himalaya Trek
My husband John and myself cannot fault our trek to Mardi Himal with Guide/porter Suza. It was a Nepali Festival time and the track was very busy. Suza made sure we had comfortable lodgings by booking ahead. We never had to worry about not having somewhere to lay down and rest our tired legs!! He was easy company always around if we needed anything. He joined us playing cards in the evenings - winning too often! We had to change the schedule a bit due to unpredicted weather (rain) - no problem Suza ‘s experience and local knowledge made this easy too.     Amazing guide company
Annapurna Base Camp 10 days(Oct. 9-18) trek with 6 people, 1 guide and 1 porter.We stopped by the Kathmandu office the day before to pay with a credit card, and the owner, Simbir, was kind enough to cash in at a good rate, and to accompany our guide, Sujan, to buy SIM cards and medicine.The next day, Sujan came to pick us up in a Jeep at a hostel in Pokhara, and stopped by for shopping and stuff on the way to the trailhead.My guide Sujan, who is young at 23, was very accommodating and well organised every day, checking on everyone and arranging food and accommodation.     I planned a 12 days trek by myself but I was looking for a guide. 3 days before leaving to Nepal I have found the agency Himalaya View Treks. From the start the communication was open and easy. Everthing was taken care of only in a few days for everthing to be ready when I arrived. I met my guide in Pokhara. We had beautiful moments together. I really recommand to trek with *Bishal Kulung Rai*. I felt very confortable with him. We had really nice talks but he knew also when to give me the time alone that I was looking for during this trek. He was very supportive, helpful and flexible regarding my requests.
