Nagarjun Hill day Hike
Nagarjun hill is located in North West part of Kathmandu valley. This hill is seven km. Far from Kathmandu valley after completing the three hours of walk one can reach on the top of Nagarjun hill. The starting point of this Hiking is Balaju bypass from there you need to step ascend on tree shadows trail to reach on the top of Nagarjun hill. Nagarjun hill is famous for Buddhist Gompa, sacred caves and beautiful scenery.
On the top of the hill there is one big Buddhist Gompa where you can see and learn Buddhist way of prayer and meditation. There are several caves on the Nagarjuna hill. Out of which some are empty while others are almost in ruins. Out of these caves two most important one is situated inside the Raniban forest while another situated outside the gate on the Balaju-Trisuli Road. The cave inside the Raniban forest is said to be made by Nagarjuna to worship Swayambhunath and placed an image of Akshobhya Buddha.

On the northern side of the hill outside the forest, there is a famous cave of Nagarjuna which still exists. There are images of Akshobhya and Nagarjuna inside. Tibetans call this cave of Guru Rimpoche, while local people call it as Laxmi Gupha. Within the cave, there are images of Nagarjuna so this hill is called Nagarjun. Near the Nagarjun cave is a cave known as Buffalo Buddha by the Tibetans. There is a legend that once Nagarjuna was living in this cave.
A buffalo herdsman used to visit the master and was offering milk, curds, etc. Once he invited the Master to town but Master told him to meditate at the same cave. But the herdsman was always thinking of his buffaloes. Later he himself became a buffalo. After meditation, he shot through the roof of the cave and went to paradise. So, during Nagarjun hill day hike, trekkers can explore such types of caves related to different legends. Guide Wages is US$35 for the day.

Verified EBC Trek: April 2026 In April 2026, we did the 11 day Everest Base Camp trek with Himalaya View Treks. Verified Everest base camp with island peak I completed the Everest Base Camp trek and Island Peak climb with my dad, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything went incredibly smoothly thanks to the excellent planning and organisation from Simbar. Our guide Sobit and porter Jhalak were outstanding both extremely welcoming, supportive and professional throughout the trip. We genuinely felt they made the whole experience what it was and without them we honestly wouldn’t have made it. Verified Annapurna Circuit Trek 2026 My wife and I went trekking on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal from April 2–15, 2026. We used the services of Himalaya View Treks, and our guide was Jiban. During our trek, we encountered unexpected heavy snowfall, which made the journey much more challenging. However, Jiban constantly monitored the weather and assessed risks to adjust our plan, prioritizing our safety at all times. Thanks to his expertise, we successfully and safely crossed the Thorong La Pass. Throughout the trip, he took excellent care of us and provided honest, straightforward advice. Verified We had an amazing experience! We would really recommend Himalaya View Treks! We did the EBC trek. From the moment we booked, we had excellent communication with Simbir, who provided us with all the information we needed. He always replied quickly. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the trek by a few weeks due to the war in the Middle East, but this was no problem at all. The trek was rescheduled without any issues. We had Suraj as our guide for the trek and were very happy with him. During the hike, Suraj arranged everything for us and made sure we could fully focus on the trek itself. He was constantly looking after our well-being and ensured we didn’t have to worry about anything. He also knew a lot about the area and the mountains. We can’t recommend him enough and would definitely want him as our guide again if we ever return to Nepal. On top of that, he’s really good at cards and chess. And he’s also good at taking pictures!
