Langtang Gosainkunda Lauribina Pass Trek – 14 Days

The Langtang Gosainkunda  Lauribina Pass Trek – 14 Days is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich trekking adventures near Kathmandu, Nepal. This incredible journey combines the stunning Langtang Valley, the sacred Gosainkunda Lake, Lauribina and the peaceful Helambu Valley into one unforgettable Himalayan experience.

Located in the northern part of Kathmandu, the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek offers a perfect combination of natural beauty, high mountain landscapes, ancient monasteries, and traditional Himalayan villages. The trek reaches an elevation of approximately 4,610 meters at Lauribina Pass (Gosainkunda Pass), making it an excellent choice for trekkers seeking a challenging yet achievable high-altitude adventure.

Unlike the more crowded Everest and Annapurna trekking regions, the Langtang region provides a peaceful trail with authentic local experiences. Trekkers can explore traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages, walk through beautiful rhododendron forests, enjoy spectacular Himalayan views, and discover the spiritual importance of the holy Gosainkunda Lakes.

Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek Overview

The Gosaikunda Pass Trek in Nepal begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang region. From Syabrubesi, the trail gradually climbs through beautiful forests and mountain settlements, passing famous destinations including Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, Kyanjin Gompa, and Thulo Syabru.

The journey follows the classic Langtang Valley route before heading toward the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda. After exploring the holy lake area and allowing time for acclimatization, trekkers cross the spectacular Lauribina Pass (4,610 m) before descending toward Ghopte and continuing through the Helambu region.

The trek itinerary is carefully designed to provide enough time for acclimatization. Proper altitude adjustment helps trekkers cross Gosainkunda Pass safely and comfortably while enjoying the magnificent Himalayan scenery.

Highlights of Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek

The Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek offers a wide range of attractions, including:

  • Beautiful Langtang Valley landscapes
  • Sacred Gosainkunda Lake and surrounding holy lakes
  • Crossing Lauribina Pass at 4,610 meters
  • Traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages
  • Ancient Buddhist monasteries and prayer walls
  • Stunning views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Himalayan peaks
  • Rhododendron forests and alpine landscapes
  • Diverse wildlife inside Langtang National Park
  • Authentic local culture and mountain hospitality

This trek is an ideal choice for travelers who want a complete Himalayan experience combining adventure, nature, and culture.

Exploring Langtang Valley and Kyanjin Gompa

The first major section of the trek explores the beautiful Langtang Valley, one of Nepal’s most scenic mountain valleys. The trail follows the Langtang River through forests filled with rhododendron, bamboo, and pine trees.

After passing Lama Hotel and Langtang Village, trekkers reach Kyanjin Gompa, the spiritual and scenic highlight of the valley. Surrounded by magnificent Himalayan peaks, this peaceful village provides breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, and other snow-covered mountains.

Trekkers can spend an extra day exploring Kyanjin Gompa, visiting the monastery, or hiking to viewpoints such as Kyanjin Ri and Tserko Ri. These viewpoints provide some of the best mountain panoramas in the Langtang region.

The valley also offers opportunities to experience traditional Himalayan life, including yak farming, local cheese production, and Buddhist cultural practices.

The Sacred Beauty of Gosainkunda Lake

One of the main attractions of this trek is the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, located at an altitude of about 4,380 meters.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva created the lake by striking the mountain with his trident after consuming poison. Today, Gosainkunda is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

The Gosainkunda area is surrounded by numerous sacred lakes. Local beliefs mention more than 108 holy lakes in the region, including:

  • Shiva Kunda
  • Bhairab Kunda
  • Ganesh Kunda
  • Parbati Kunda
  • Saraswati Kunda
  • Surya Kunda

Many pilgrims visit these lakes during the Janai Purnima festival to take a holy bath and receive spiritual blessings.

Trekkers can spend a relaxing day exploring the surrounding lakes, enjoying mountain views, and preparing for the challenging Lauribina Pass crossing.

Crossing Lauribina Pass (4,610 m)

The highlight of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek is crossing Lauribina Pass, also known as Gosainkunda Pass.

Although the pass requires physical effort, the gradual ascent through Langtang Valley helps trekkers adapt to the increasing altitude. Proper acclimatization and a steady walking pace make the crossing more comfortable.

From the top of Lauribina Pass, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, including Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and surrounding peaks.

After crossing the pass, the trail descends toward Ghopte and continues through beautiful forests and traditional villages of the Helambu region.

Culture, Villages, and Local Lifestyle

One of the greatest attractions of the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek is the opportunity to experience authentic Himalayan culture. The trail passes through traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages, where local people continue to preserve their ancient customs, Buddhist traditions, and mountain lifestyle.

During the trek, visitors can see colorful prayer flags, mani walls, Buddhist monasteries, chortens, and traditional stone houses. The warm hospitality of local families provides a deeper connection with the Himalayan way of life.

The region is also famous for its unique festivals, traditional foods, and handicrafts. Meeting local communities along the trail makes the journey more meaningful and memorable.

Langtang National Park and Wildlife

The trekking route passes through Langtang National Park, Nepal’s first Himalayan national park and a protected area with rich biodiversity.

The changing landscapes provide habitats for many rare and beautiful animals and birds. Trekkers may encounter:

  • Red Panda
  • Himalayan Thar
  • Musk Deer
  • Himalayan Black Bear
  • Langur Monkeys
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Snow Pheasant
  • Various species of birds and butterflies

The trail also offers spectacular natural scenery, including:

  • Rhododendron forests
  • Glacial rivers
  • Waterfalls
  • Snow-covered peaks
  • Alpine meadows
  • Rocky mountain landscapes

During spring, the forests become colorful with blooming rhododendrons, while autumn offers clear skies and excellent mountain views.

Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek Difficulty

The Gosainkunda Pass Trek is considered a moderate to challenging trekking adventure. The main challenge is the high altitude, especially while crossing Lauribina Pass at 4,610 meters.

Trekkers usually walk around 5 to 7 hours each day, depending on the destination and trail conditions. Previous trekking experience is helpful but not compulsory.

Good physical fitness, proper preparation, and a gradual pace are important for successfully completing the trek.

The itinerary includes enough acclimatization time, allowing your body to adjust naturally to the increasing elevation. Hiring an experienced Langtang Local Guide is highly recommended because local guides understand the terrain, weather conditions, altitude challenges, and cultural importance of the region.

Best Time for Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek

The best seasons for the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek – 14 Days are spring and autumn.

Spring Season (March to May)

Spring is one of the most beautiful times to trek in the Langtang region. The forests bloom with colorful rhododendron flowers, temperatures are comfortable, and mountain views are spectacular.

Autumn Season (September to November)

Autumn is considered the best trekking season in Nepal. Stable weather, clear skies, and excellent visibility make this period ideal for crossing Lauribina Pass and exploring Gosainkunda Lake.

Winter and Monsoon

Winter trekking is possible, but heavy snowfall around Lauribina Pass can make the trail more challenging.

The monsoon season brings rainfall, slippery trails, and cloudy mountain views, making it less suitable for this high-pass trek.

Accommodation and Food During the Trek

Accommodation during the Langtang Gosainkunda Pass Trek is available in traditional mountain tea houses operated by local families.

Tea houses provide basic but comfortable facilities, including:

  • Twin-sharing rooms
  • Beds with mattresses and blankets

EBC Trek: April 2026 In April 2026, we did the 11 day Everest Base Camp trek with Himalaya View Treks. We were a group of two with Ram as our guide and Santos as porter - a pair of absolute legends! From the first email enquiry, Simbir of Himalaya View Treks was responsive and helpful and we couldn't have had a better trip. If you're going around in circles trying to decide who to book your EBC trek with (like I was), look no further. We're already thinking about our next trip and when we're back in Nepal, we wouldn't hesitate to go with the same team.

Everest base camp with island peak I completed the Everest Base Camp trek and Island Peak climb with my dad, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything went incredibly smoothly thanks to the excellent planning and organisation from Simbar. Our guide Sobit and porter Jhalak were outstanding both extremely welcoming, supportive and professional throughout the trip. We genuinely felt they made the whole experience what it was and without them we honestly wouldn’t have made it. I would highly recommend both the company and especially our guide and porter to anyone considering this adventure.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 2026 My wife and I went trekking on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal from April 2–15, 2026. We used the services of Himalaya View Treks, and our guide was Jiban. During our trek, we encountered unexpected heavy snowfall, which made the journey much more challenging. However, Jiban constantly monitored the weather and assessed risks to adjust our plan, prioritizing our safety at all times. Thanks to his expertise, we successfully and safely crossed the Thorong La Pass. Throughout the trip, he took excellent care of us and provided honest, straightforward advice. If you are planning a trek in Nepal, I highly recommend consulting with the team at Himalaya View Treks. I hope you have as wonderful an experience as we did.

We had an amazing experience! We would really recommend Himalaya View Treks! We did the EBC trek. From the moment we booked, we had excellent communication with Simbir, who provided us with all the information we needed. He always replied quickly. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the trek by a few weeks due to the war in the Middle East, but this was no problem at all. The trek was rescheduled without any issues. We had Suraj as our guide for the trek and were very happy with him. During the hike, Suraj arranged everything for us and made sure we could fully focus on the trek itself. He was constantly looking after our well-being and ensured we didn’t have to worry about anything. He also knew a lot about the area and the mountains. We can’t recommend him enough and would definitely want him as our guide again if we ever return to Nepal. On top of that, he’s really good at cards and chess. And he’s also good at taking pictures!

EBC Solo Trek (26 yo female) Just finished the EBC Trek and can’t say enough good things about Himalaya View Treks and my guide, Sujan. From the moment I booked the trip, the team was extremely responsive, communicative, and professional—I felt supported every step of the way before I even arrived in Nepal. A huge shoutout to my guide, Sujan—I absolutely loved him. He made the entire experience. He handled everything on the trek seamlessly, from meals to accommodations, so I could fully focus on the journey. He was attentive, organized, and genuinely cared about making sure I was safe, comfortable, and enjoying the experience. Completing the trek in 8 days was a huge accomplishment, and I truly credit Sujan and the team for making that possible while still ensuring everything was done safely and efficiently. Overall, the company is extremely well-managed, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering the Everest Base Camp trek—couldn’t have asked for a better team.

Excellent I just completed the 10-day Annapurna Base Camp trek with Anil as my guide, and I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation I had going in. From day one, Anil's professionalism set the tone for the entire trip. He was always well-prepared, punctual, and clearly prioritised our safety at every stage of the trek — whether it was pacing us correctly for acclimatisation, making smart calls on the trail, or ensuring we were well-rested before the harder days. You could tell this wasn't just a job for him; he genuinely cared about getting us to base camp and back safely. What really impressed me was how calm and composed he remained throughout. That kind of quiet confidence is exactly what you want when you're days into a mountain trek and pushing your limits. I never once felt uncertain about the route or our wellbeing. The trek itself — the rhododendron forests, the mountain villages, the jaw-dropping views of Machapuchare and the Annapurna massif — was breathtaking. But having Anil alongside made it a truly special experience rather than just a physical challenge. If you're considering the ABC trek, book with Anil without hesitation. You're in safe, capable hands.
