Experience the Beauty of the Annapurna Foothills

The Annapurna Foothills Trek is a joyful hill hiking route that combines breathtaking mountain scenery, cultural exploration, and peaceful walking trails in the lower Annapurna region of Nepal. Pokhara and its surrounding areas are famous for various walking and trekking activities, but selecting the right trail is important to make your journey truly memorable.

If you are searching for a low-altitude trekking route with spectacular Himalayan views, traditional villages, and natural attractions, the Annapurna Foothills Trek is an ideal choice. This trek is perfect for travelers who want to explore the beauty of Nepal without facing the challenges of extreme altitude.

HVT presents this iconic short trekking adventure in the Annapurna region, offering a perfect combination of nature, culture, and adventure. The trail takes trekkers through beautiful landscapes filled with green forests, terraced farmland, rivers, waterfalls, and charming mountain settlements.

Why Annapurna Foothills Trek Is Perfect for Short Holidays

The Annapurna Foothills Trek is an excellent choice for beginners, families, senior travelers, and anyone looking for a comfortable Himalayan adventure. The route does not require advanced trekking skills or previous high-altitude experience.

One of the biggest advantages of this trek is its low elevation. Since the trail remains below high-altitude zones, there is a lower possibility of altitude-related difficulties. This allows trekkers to focus more on enjoying the landscapes, culture, and local experiences.

The trek passes through several ethnic villages where visitors can experience the authentic lifestyle of local communities. The Gurung and Magar people are well known for their unique traditions, warm hospitality, and rich cultural heritage.

During the journey, trekkers can explore traditional houses, local farming practices, and village lifestyles that have remained connected with Himalayan nature for generations. The opportunity to interact with local people makes this trek more meaningful than a simple hiking trip.

The Annapurna Foothills Trek is also a great option for travelers with limited time in Nepal. Within a few days, trekkers can experience mountain scenery, cultural diversity, forests, rivers, and peaceful Himalayan trails.

Annapurna Foothills Trek Route Overview and Major Attractions

The Annapurna Foothills Trek begins from Dhampus Phedi, which is also the starting point for the popular Australian Camp and Sarangkot hiking routes. The location is easily accessible from Pokhara, making it one of the most convenient trekking destinations in Nepal.

The first section of the trek takes you to Dhampus Village, a beautiful Gurung settlement offering magnificent views of the Annapurna mountain range and Machhapuchhre. Walking through terraced fields and traditional villages provides a wonderful introduction to rural Nepalese life.

From Dhampus, the trail continues through peaceful forests and scenic landscapes toward Landruk and other beautiful settlements. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy fresh mountain air, flowing rivers, waterfalls, and incredible views of the surrounding hills.

One of the most memorable experiences of the trek is visiting Jhinu Danda, famous for its natural hot water springs. After walking through the Himalayan trails, relaxing in the warm mineral-rich water surrounded by nature is a refreshing experience.

The final destination is Ghandruk Village, one of the most famous villages in the Annapurna region. The route also passes near sections of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek trail, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the ABC region.

Annapurna Foothills Trek Trail Length and Difficulty

The total trekking distance covered during the Annapurna Foothills Trek is approximately 101.1 kilometers, making it a rewarding Himalayan walking adventure. Although this is considered a low-altitude trek compared to other famous Himalayan routes, the trail still includes a variety of landscapes and challenges.

During the trek, you will experience a combination of uphill climbs, downhill sections, forest trails, stone steps, rugged paths, and uneven mountain terrain. Walking long distances in the Himalayan environment requires physical effort and proper preparation.

For a normal traveler, covering this distance is not an everyday activity, but the challenge is balanced by the incredible rewards. Beautiful mountain views, traditional villages, cultural experiences, and peaceful natural surroundings make every step worthwhile.

With a suitable pace, proper preparation, and guidance from experienced trekking staff, this trek becomes an enjoyable and unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

Altitude Sickness and Acclimatization

Altitude sickness is one of the important factors to consider during any Himalayan trek. However, the Annapurna Foothills Trek is a low-altitude trekking route, and the maximum elevation reached during this journey is approximately 2,170 meters above sea level. Therefore, the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is very low compared to high-altitude trekking destinations.

The trek begins from Pokhara, which is located at around 800 meters above sea level. Since altitude sickness is mainly caused by rapid changes in elevation, our carefully designed itinerary allows trekkers to gain altitude gradually and comfortably.

Although serious altitude problems are uncommon on this route, every trekker should remain aware of the symptoms and follow proper safety guidelines. Staying hydrated, walking at a comfortable pace, and taking enough rest are essential for a safe trekking experience.

Our team prioritizes your safety and carefully monitors weather conditions, health conditions, and trekking progress throughout the journey.

Weather and Climatic Conditions During the Trek

Weather in the Himalayan region can be unpredictable and may change quickly. Even during a short trek like the Annapurna Foothills Trek, trekkers should be prepared for changing climatic conditions.

During the daytime, temperatures are usually pleasant for walking, but mornings and nights can become cold, especially at higher villages. Weather conditions may change suddenly, with clear skies turning cloudy within a short period.

The best seasons for this trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is generally stable and mountain views are at their best. However, mountain weather can still be unpredictable at any time of the year.

Our trekking team regularly evaluates weather conditions and trail situations before making decisions. Safety always remains the highest priority, and the team will adjust the trekking schedule if necessary.

Trekking Preparation and Fitness Requirements

The Annapurna Foothills Trek is a short and easy-to-moderate trekking route suitable for beginners, families, and travelers with a normal level of fitness. Since the trail remains at a lower altitude, no special training or previous trekking experience is required.

However, being physically prepared will help you enjoy the journey more comfortably. Regular walking, light hiking, or daily activities such as cycling and stretching can help improve your stamina and make the trekking experience easier.

The trail includes some uphill and downhill sections, stone steps, and several hours of walking each day. Therefore, it is recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay active before arriving in Nepal.

A positive mindset, comfortable trekking shoes, proper clothing, and basic preparation are more important than intensive physical training for this trek. With a relaxed pace and support from our experienced trekking team, the Annapurna Foothills Trek becomes a comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable Himalayan adventure.

EBC Trek: April 2026 In April 2026, we did the 11 day Everest Base Camp trek with Himalaya View Treks. We were a group of two with Ram as our guide and Santos as porter - a pair of absolute legends! From the first email enquiry, Simbir of Himalaya View Treks was responsive and helpful and we couldn't have had a better trip. If you're going around in circles trying to decide who to book your EBC trek with (like I was), look no further. We're already thinking about our next trip and when we're back in Nepal, we wouldn't hesitate to go with the same team.

Everest base camp with island peak I completed the Everest Base Camp trek and Island Peak climb with my dad, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything went incredibly smoothly thanks to the excellent planning and organisation from Simbar. Our guide Sobit and porter Jhalak were outstanding both extremely welcoming, supportive and professional throughout the trip. We genuinely felt they made the whole experience what it was and without them we honestly wouldn’t have made it. I would highly recommend both the company and especially our guide and porter to anyone considering this adventure.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 2026 My wife and I went trekking on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal from April 2–15, 2026. We used the services of Himalaya View Treks, and our guide was Jiban. During our trek, we encountered unexpected heavy snowfall, which made the journey much more challenging. However, Jiban constantly monitored the weather and assessed risks to adjust our plan, prioritizing our safety at all times. Thanks to his expertise, we successfully and safely crossed the Thorong La Pass. Throughout the trip, he took excellent care of us and provided honest, straightforward advice. If you are planning a trek in Nepal, I highly recommend consulting with the team at Himalaya View Treks. I hope you have as wonderful an experience as we did.

We had an amazing experience! We would really recommend Himalaya View Treks! We did the EBC trek. From the moment we booked, we had excellent communication with Simbir, who provided us with all the information we needed. He always replied quickly. Unfortunately, we had to postpone the trek by a few weeks due to the war in the Middle East, but this was no problem at all. The trek was rescheduled without any issues. We had Suraj as our guide for the trek and were very happy with him. During the hike, Suraj arranged everything for us and made sure we could fully focus on the trek itself. He was constantly looking after our well-being and ensured we didn’t have to worry about anything. He also knew a lot about the area and the mountains. We can’t recommend him enough and would definitely want him as our guide again if we ever return to Nepal. On top of that, he’s really good at cards and chess. And he’s also good at taking pictures!

EBC Solo Trek (26 yo female) Just finished the EBC Trek and can’t say enough good things about Himalaya View Treks and my guide, Sujan. From the moment I booked the trip, the team was extremely responsive, communicative, and professional—I felt supported every step of the way before I even arrived in Nepal. A huge shoutout to my guide, Sujan—I absolutely loved him. He made the entire experience. He handled everything on the trek seamlessly, from meals to accommodations, so I could fully focus on the journey. He was attentive, organized, and genuinely cared about making sure I was safe, comfortable, and enjoying the experience. Completing the trek in 8 days was a huge accomplishment, and I truly credit Sujan and the team for making that possible while still ensuring everything was done safely and efficiently. Overall, the company is extremely well-managed, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering the Everest Base Camp trek—couldn’t have asked for a better team.

Excellent I just completed the 10-day Annapurna Base Camp trek with Anil as my guide, and I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation I had going in. From day one, Anil's professionalism set the tone for the entire trip. He was always well-prepared, punctual, and clearly prioritised our safety at every stage of the trek — whether it was pacing us correctly for acclimatisation, making smart calls on the trail, or ensuring we were well-rested before the harder days. You could tell this wasn't just a job for him; he genuinely cared about getting us to base camp and back safely. What really impressed me was how calm and composed he remained throughout. That kind of quiet confidence is exactly what you want when you're days into a mountain trek and pushing your limits. I never once felt uncertain about the route or our wellbeing. The trek itself — the rhododendron forests, the mountain villages, the jaw-dropping views of Machapuchare and the Annapurna massif — was breathtaking. But having Anil alongside made it a truly special experience rather than just a physical challenge. If you're considering the ABC trek, book with Anil without hesitation. You're in safe, capable hands.
