Hiking Near Kathmandu – Phulchowki Hill Day Hike
Phulchowki Hill Day hike is located in the southeast of Kathmandu Valley and is popular for its romantic views, different species of birds, and lower. The hill is the highest hill among the surrounding hills of Kathmandu Valley. where you can enjoy snow in the winter season. Phulchowki Hill is 28 km. Far from Kathmandu city, there are two ways to reach Phulchowki hill.
If you want quite a long walk around the hills of Kathmandu valley you can go to Day Hike Phulchowki hill through Namobuddha. But if you hurry and want a short walk to reach Phulchowki you can go direct ascend from Godawari. Phulchowki hill has a dense forest of different plants including Rhododendrons. Because of this beautiful and dense forest, different species of birds and butterflies and some animals reside in the area.
In the beautiful forest of Phulchowki hill, you can see the different kinds of birds such as the Rufous- gorged Flycatcher, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Yellow-browed Tit, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Red-billed Leiothrix, Whiskered Yuhina, Besra, Bronzed and Racket-tailed Drongos, Greater Yellow nape, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Nepal Cutia, Ultramarine Flycatcher, and Black-winged Cuckoo-shrike.
Phulchowki Hill Day Hike – Amazing short hiking trail around Kathmandu Valley
There is the shrine of Phulchowki Mai; the guardian goddess on the top of Phulchowki hill. If you happen to trek on this route in March-April or in July and August you might have a chance to watch the month-long annual religious festival held at the shrine to Phulchoki Mai in March-April, and some other major festivals on the full moon days in July and August every year. Guide wages are US$25 for a day and car drop and pick up to Godawori is US$70, van is US$100.
At that time, Nepalese masse from the surrounding areas, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and other towns and villages visited the Phulchoki. Moreover, you will get eye-pleasing views of Kathmandu Valley, small green hills and typical Nepalese villages can be seen from Phulchowki Hill. During the Phulchowki hill trek, you can also visit one Marvel factory and the Godawori botanical garden in Godawori.

Sorbit and Ram were very accommodating and made sure we had fun even on the days of the walk we found a bit more challenging. Sorbit had great energy, lots of funny stories and was really quick at spotting wildlife, so we got to see lots of monkeys and deer! Ram was such a legend for carrying our stuff, we could not have done this trek without their support.
