Annapurna Basecamp Short Trek – 7 Days (ABC) from Pokhara
The 7-Day Annapurna Basecamp Short Trek (ABC) from Pokhara is one of the most rewarding short treks in Nepal, offering a close-up Himalayan experience in less than a week. Known as the “Sanctuary of the Gods,” Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130m sits in the heart of the Annapurna range and provides a panoramic amphitheater of towering peaks, including the mighty Annapurna I (8,091m) – the 10th highest mountain in the world.
Unlike the longer Annapurna Circuit or Ghorepani Poon Hill routes, this short ABC trek follows a direct scenic trail through Jhinu Danda, Chhomrong, Bamboo, Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, and finally to Annapurna Base Camp itself. It is the perfect adventure for trekkers with limited time but a strong desire to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Annapurna region.

Trek Overview
The shortest ABC trek from Pokhara begins with a scenic drive to Ghandruk Phedi, where the hiking journey starts. From here, the trail gradually ascends through beautiful forests and vibrant villages surrounded by rice terraces. The sound of rushing rivers, waterfalls, and birdsong makes every step a delight.
One of the most memorable experiences on this trek is the overnight stay at Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), from where trekkers are rewarded with stunning views of the “Holy Fishtail Peak” (6,993m). Just a few hours further lies the legendary Annapurna Base Camp, surrounded by some of the highest and most dramatic peaks in the world. At sunrise and sunset, the mountains glow golden and silver, creating unforgettable moments that remain etched in the heart forever. The return journey follows the same route down through Bamboo and Chhomrong, eventually reaching Jhinu Danda, where trekkers can dip into the soothing natural hot springs – a perfect way to relax after days of trekking. The trip concludes with a short drive back to Pokhara.
