Trip overview
Throng peak climbing is in the Annapurna mountain region just above the Thorung La pass. This peak is above 6000m and considered one of the difficult and risky peaks for climbing in Nepal. Along with sound physical fitness basic prior experience of high snowy peak climbing is necessary to climb Thorung peak. If you plan to go High Mountain expedition in future this peak is suitable for you which will provide all the necessary experiences.

Throng Peak Climbing – Difficult and risky peak to climb
Moreover, route of Thorung peak goes through the villages of Different ethnic people so, during this journey you will get chance to known the unique culture and festivals of different ethnic people such as Gurung, Magar and Buddhist. Your journey starts with 5/6 hours bus drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. From Besisahar you will reach to Thorung Phedi through beautiful places like Bahundada, Chamje, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang and Manang.
From Thorung Phedi you will reach to Thorung peak base camp and gradually you will reach to Thorung peak summit which offers superb views of Nilgiri peak, Tilicho peak, Dhaulagiri range, and Annapurna range, beautiful naturally decorated landscapes of Mustang region. After enjoying in its summit you will return via Muktinath, Jomsom route.

If you want long trek in Annapurna region before or after climbing this peak we will redesign its itinerary as per you request. Short Itinerary
Thorong Peak Climbing Itinerary – 15 Days
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m) Airport pickup, transfer to hotel. Trip briefing and preparation.
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (820m), then to Chame (2,670m) Long drive (8–9 hrs). Scenic views of hills, rivers, and mountains.
Day 03: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,200m) – 5 hrs Walk along pine forests and Marsyangdi River. View of Annapurna II & IV.
Day 04: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m) – 6 hrs Choose upper or lower route. Visit monasteries and explore Manang village.
Day 05: Acclimatization day at Manang (3,540m) Hike to Ice Lake or Chhunker Viewpoint. Essential acclimatization.
Day 06: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050m) – 4 hrs, Gradual ascent. Watch for yaks grazing.
Day 07: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m) – 4 hrs Short but steady climb. Prepare for high-altitude stay.
Day 08: Trek from Thorong Phedi to Thorong Peak Base Camp (4,800m) – 4 hrs Leave the main trail. Set up base camp.
Day 09: Trek from Base Camp to High Camp (5,200m) – 3 hrs Steep climb on rocky terrain. Early rest for summit push.
Day 10: Summit Thorong Peak (6,144m) & return to Muktinath (3,760m) via Thorong La (5,416m) – 9–10 hrs Start around 2–3 AM. Use crampons, ropes, and ice axe if required. After summit, descend via Thorong La Pass to Muktinath.
Day 11: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m) – 5 hrs, Descend through Kali Gandaki valley.
Day 12: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (827m) – 30 mins, Scenic mountain flight. Rest in Pokhara.
Day 13: Drive/Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu – 6 hrs drive or 25 min flight.
Day 14: Buffer/Contingency Day For weather or acclimatization delays.
Day 15: Final Departure. Airport transfer for onward journey.
